Our clients are highly successful and knowledgeable Developers, based in the affluent area of Surrey. They had purchased a property and contacted I4B to see if they were eligible for any reliefs.
The property had been purchased for £652,000 and they had paid £42,160 in Stamp Duty Land Tax.
Upon review, the skilful team were able to assess that the Dwelling was unhabitable, and so was eligible for reliefs. It was classed as non-residential, as it was a neglected building without flooring, central heating and even gas and heating supplies had been removed.
As the team had done a thorough examination of all the documents, HMRC refunded the client £20,060!
