Our team has recently completed a case for a new client, after receiving a referral from Anil Sehmi, MD of another company within the ARMCO portfolio, Trust Financial.
Trust made the introduction of the client into Gemma Davies, the R&D Tax Manager in our Research & Development team. The referral came following Trust assisting their longstanding client with a refinance of an existing site in Nottingham with planning for 132 apartments and the purchase and subsequent development of another site in Leicester with planning for 171 units.
Trust provides property developers with support in identifying a building site, arranging the finance, assist in the ongoing construction requirements and then creating the exit strategy, and can help at any, and all, stages of their journey.
The client was initially referred to I4B for an eligibility assessment on R&D tax relief relating to the property they had developed. Working closely with the client and their accountants, I4B was able to identify eligible activity for the innovative design features and technical challenges with the development that qualified for tax relief.
Upon completion the client was then introduced by Gemma to Aulfat Bi who leads our Capital Allowances team as it was suspected that there might be further potential tax savings.
Aulfat analysed the transfer of a property after it had been built by the developer, whereby the transferee company would be retaining the property as an investment property. We were able to claim capital allowances in respect of fixtures within the communal areas of the building.
The client was absolutely delighted with the outcome of his case, and with the foresight shown by Anil to have referred them into Innovation 4 Business, reclaiming monies and saving tax that they would have otherwise not been aware of, and would have missed out on.
